Getting Started
Training in the Basics of Evidence Based Reading Instruction and Orton-Gillingham

Teachers learn effective Orton-Gillingham based strategies and activities to use with intervention groups through lesson planning and implementation practice.

Provides strong foundational knowledge in science of reading principles and ability to execute effective foundational literacy lessons for students in whole class and small group instruction.

Beneficial for general education, special education and ELL teachers.

Week-long training totaling 30 hours.

Entirely remote through videoconferencing.

Orton-Gillingham Certification Program (includes supervised practicum)

All of the knowledge, materials, and practice with the concepts of structured literacy and the Orton-Gillingham approach taught in the Basic Training
-
Meets requirements to apply for national certification in Orton-Gillingham.

45 hours of collegiate-level coursework (credits available from Keene State College) held over 7 classes.
-
Classes conducted on Saturdays either in-person or remote through videoconferencing.
-
60 hour supervised practicum completed with observations and direct support for lesson planning.

Beneficial for special education teachers and reading specialists providing reading instruction to students.

Small group of teachers in the cohort allows us to individualize the training for you.

This program is inclusive of all training and practicum hours and the cost covers both components.

There is no prerequisite course needed prior to enrolling in this program.
Continuing Your Study
Participants are eligible to register only if they have taken a previous training with us.
Refresher Course for Levels 1 & 2

Beneficial for participants who have previously taken an Orton-Gillingham training with us who would like to reaffirm theoretical understandings and implementation procedures.

Provides knowledge, hands-on practice and access to the most current materials to implement Levels 1 and 2 of our scope and sequence.

Gives participants the opportunity to clarify or extend their practice after having worked with students in these levels.

Entirely remote through videoconferencing.

There is no practicum associated with this training.

This training is mandatory as a prerequisite to taking the Levels 3 & 4 Advanced Course if your initial training with us was more than 2 years ago.
Advanced Course for Levels 3 & 4

Beneficial for participants who have initial Orton-Gillingham training or certification with us who would like to advance their theoretical knowledge.

Provides knowledge, hands-on practice and access to materials to implement Levels 3 and 4 of our scope and sequence.

Gives participants the opportunity to gain confidence in working with students in advanced concepts.
